Kullanılan girdi miktarının artırılması sonucu, üretim miktarında meydana gelen artışın girdi miktarındaki artıştan oransal olarak daha büyük olması durumudur. Eğer girdi miktarındaki artış üretimdeki artışa eşitse, sabit getiri; artış büyükse azalan getiri söz konusudur. Artan getiri durumunda ortalama maliyetler azalır, sabit getiri de bir değişiklik olmaz, azalan getiri de ise maliyetler azalır.
